About Pond
What is Pond?
Founded in 2001, Pond is an educational nonprofit organization dedicated to providing a forum through which experimental artists may share ideas and foster a mutually beneficial relationship with the larger community. Our goal is to offer an accessible place for individual and community groups to develop and execute ideas in a non-competitive atmosphere.
Since opening our doors in 2001, Pond has showcased the work of over 200 international artists through the production of over 20 gallery exhibitions, 3 international cultural exchanges, three city-wide public art projects, 3 lecture series, and various screenings and special events.
Grassroots Fundraising and Volunteerism
Pond sustains itself through a grassroots approach to fundraising. We rely on the efforts of our all-volunteer staff, membership, contributions, and admissions to special events. With the interest of including as wide as audience as possible and to increase diversity, we do not charge admission to gallery exhibitions. In addition, as par tof our commitment to supporting artist, we do not take commission from sales-the artist receives 100%. By refusing commission, we aren't influenced by the profitability of work--only the importance and quality fo the work itself.
