Solid City State, Rubber O Cement's most ambitious creation yet, has been augmented especially for its debut at Pond as the Solid Nano-Circuit City State. Rubber O Cement's project assaults its audience with visual and audio cacophony: indecipherable things shake and whiz throughout the elaborate (cardboard) giganto-computer installation; layers of sounds clamor and clash; a giant bat-winged baby avatar of the circuit-man jumps around torturing a bass backed up with
a huge (cardboard) computer recombining its infinite permutations of synthesizer sounds. . . the net effect of the overstimulating flux is confusion and intrigue. Rubber O Cement recommends, "Bring a notepad."

Curiously, the kinetic installation is powered by altered everyday technologies (old modems, misc car parts, blow driers) which are recontextualized for each individual installation and given new names (Cimevox 2308, Disconnected Flyback Modem 9196). Rubber O Cement elaborates, "these 'technological breakthroughs' are realized in a zero-tech way emulating the unrealized future . . . " Rubber O Cement's unique aesthetic of ramshackle-technological serves as a critique of utopian dreams
