Room Temp is part of a city-wide, multi-venue investigation of historic and contemporary zine production curated by the creators of Hot and Cold, Chris Duncan and Griffin McPartland. In conjunction with Yerba Buena Center for the Arts' exhibition The Zine Unbound: Kults, Werewolves and Sarcastic Hippies, this satellite show will also feature Pond's ever-growing zine library, a collection of international self-published works alongside the most comprehensive collection of zines from the San Francisco Bay Area inherited from the legendary punk collectives Epicenter and Mission Records.

With support from San Francisco zine archivist, Smurph, Room Temp's zine library will highlight the following themes:

  • Unmitigated Fandom: the obsessive evangelisms by music nerds, skaters, bikers, etc. and enthusiasts of erstwhile technologies, literature, and other esoteric miscellanea

  • How-To's, Primers, and Manuals: Tips & Tricks on hacking, silk screening, micro-broadcasting, micro-brewing, earth-goddess gardening, greywater ecologies, recipes for illicit substances, etc.

  • Identity-Questing: diaristic outpourings about being nature punk, queer, trans_____, post-goth mod, neo-hippie, ____(fill in the blank)

  • The Ism's: Thoughts clustered around the theme of anarchism, feminism, deep ecology, passivism, Marxism, hedonism, paganism, pragmatism, affirmative nihilism, etc.

Pond is contiunally building its zine library and is always seeking scintillating submissions from around the world. Please send your zine to our mailing address below for inclusion into our zine library:
