.Through the artwork of 19 North American artists; noted essayists Terri Cohn, Alan Moore, and Robby Herbst; and a hilarious interview with Anti-Advertising Agency Founder Steve Lambert,  Shopdropping: Studies in Reverse Shoplifting is a book that considers the contemporary phenomenon of 'shopdropping', or art inserted into spaces of commerce. The limited edition of the book includes art for readers themselves to insert back into stores: a cd by Michael Campbell/Coby Ellison and two business reply inserts by The Center for Tactical Magic and Robby Herbst.

About the Publisher: The Collective Foundation

The Collective Foundation (www.collectivefoundation.org) is a research & development organization as exhibition, providing an array of experimental services for artists and arts organizations. The Collective Foundation focuses on designing practical structures while employing web-based technologies like the blog and wiki to reduce administration and economic overhead. Ultimately the Collective Foundation aims to serve as a catalytic beginning, proposing creative operational solutions and investigating new resources.

While the formative ideas for the foundation were developed by curator Joseph del Pesco and artist Scott Oliver, the foundation is comprised of scores of individuals who have made contributions toward the greater goal of advancing cultural production in the SF Bay Area and beyond. The Collective Foundation exhibition is intended as an invitation to other organizations to engage these diverse strategies for supporting artists in the Bay Area.

During the organization's launch at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, The Collective Foundation will set up temporary headquarters to provide a space to engage with CF programs, exhibit artist projects and host public events. We'll also be holding think-tank discussions, how-to sessions (for those who need help navigating the CF web interface), and Second-Saturday Shotgun Review days where we'll review as many art shows in the Bay Area as possible.
